Did you know?
According to Statistics... in the State of Washington alone, there are 398,000 mobility impaired, and 226,000 hearing impaired individuals. This is only a small part of the services Brigadoon dogs provide help for, and a small part of the area that Brigadoon services.

Bright Stars Reading Program at Whatcom Discovery Center
Brigadoon has been participating in Whatcom Discovery Center's reading program Bright Stars. Sophie (the standard poodle) accompanies Mary Allen to school and is more than happy to participate with the children. As you can tell, she loves her job!

Welcome to Brigadoon Service Dogs website!
We are so happy you found us!

Brigadoon Service Dogs is a unique organization. Our goal is to change lives through human and dog partnerships. To provide independence through these relationships.

We are one of the few organizations who will train a dog for a child under 16 years of age. Yes, of course the family needs to be involved in ensuring the dogs are cared for, but we believe that the dogs can provide so much to each unique situation that it only makes sense for us to make the best matches that we can.

In 2011, Brigadoon Service Dogs is proud to say that we have partnered with the Veterans with our Canines and Heroes for Independence program. We've had nine Veteran graduates to date and look forward to many more partnerships to come.

Our Youth program is alive and well. We take dogs into schools and the children (usually special needs or at-risk youth) learn how to train the dogs. The children get to play a part in helping to train and socialize the dogs as they prepare for their lifetime partnerships. Watching these children grow during the year as they work with the dogs is absolutely amazing!

As you can see, Brigadoon Service Dogs is all about changing lives one partnership at a time! We can only do this with your help and appreciate anything you can give. If you have already become one of our supporters, we thank you for helping us to continue changing lives!

Ambassadors for Brigadoon Service Dogs
Team Amber and Eva
Who Are They?

Amber is a 13 year old, very motivated young woman. She started helping raise dogs with her family in the spring of 2009. First they worked with Guide Dogs for the Blind and then lucky for us, they found us and in August 2010 started helping Brigadoon with raising dogs.

During an event called Harbor Hounds in Gig Harbor, Amber's Dad found Eva as a young 8 week old pup. She's a black Lab mix rescued from the Kitsap Humane Society. They picked her up for Brigadoon and trained her as instructed by Denise Costanten.  Although Eva didn't make it as a service dog, she is a wonderful demo dog and ambassador to Brigadoon.

Amber and Eva are now very strong competitors in Dock Dogs. They go to competitions and are jumping to raise funds for the dogs in training with Brigadoon. Their hope is to raise awareness about Service Dogs as well.

Update!!

Team Amber and Eva have been invited to the World's. Congratulations!
